| The original prints are extremely rare. The copies published by Visscher, Ottens and Claussin are much easier to get. If one looks at the size alone this must be a series. All the horses are placed in Dutch landscapes. Two however are depicting plough horses and horses which are nearly dying. The fi rst a Frisian horse seems to be a portrait. The other two are different types in pairs. Maybe they represent stages in a horse’s life. |
