| Very good impression and condition. The black in the stable openings is already a little uneven. A life-time impression, which makes it also according to Godefroy “rare”. The Foolscap watermark is comparable to the image given by Godefroy no. 22 and Pelletier 17. However the dates given by them differ. Pelletier gives c. 1653-1655, consistent with the date of the print. Godefroy gives 1680-1685, so during the life of van Ostade, but later. |
