Hot Printing.
Cover for a set of illustrations.

“Druksel” Stencil or template and type. Signed “h.n.w.” (printed)
32.2 x 24.7 cm.

Cat. Werkman 2008, G. 189, p262/263
Fine colours and condition. Extremely rare.

The component parts of the druksel were printed separately, one after another.
In fact no print is the same.
Late 1935 or early 1936 Werkman printed a series of his own poems and a series of 19
sjabloondruksels with the intention of making small books. Only very few were actually
made. The 19 prints were sometimes sold separately or in different combinations.

The cover with the title “Hot Printing” according to Zuithoff would have been printed in c. 20 copies, but in the Werkman catalogue only a unique complete set in the Stedelijk Museum is described and full page illustrated. (p. 263). In the Zuithoff collection there was a slightly different one.
